SUMMARY: Responsible for managin! g patient care and treatment in collaboration with the physician.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary duties may include, but are not limited to: Performs health assessments and preventative health measures within prescribed guidelines and physician instructions. Orders, interprets and evaluates diagnostic tests to indentify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs. Discusses case with physician. Formulates and documents care plan. Prescribes medication or other forms of treatment. Participates in On-Call program which may include after-hours, weekend and holiday calls and visitations

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Requires an MS in Nursing; 1 year of related experience with clinical emphasis for nurse practitioner; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Current

Highly skilled Nurse Practitioner is wanted to provide basic, primary healthcare by diagnosing and tr! eating common acute illnesses and injuries. The Nurse Practiti! oner will provide primary care that focuses on assessment, health management, education, advocacy, and prevention. Roles that might be assumed will be conducting physical exams, prescribing medication, diagnosing and treating illness, interpreting lab tests, and counseling patients on healthcare options.

Responsibilities include:

• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physician in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care; record the normal and abnormal data for review by the physician.
• Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations; write progress notes; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings; obtain psychosocial history relevant to patient care, and assume responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients.
• Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic proced! ures; explain necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
• Carry out therapeutic procedures such as cast application and removal, wound suturing and dressing changes; monitor progress of patients, report progress to supervising physician, and maintain record of each patient's progress, consulting with supervising physician when patient's progress does not meet anticipated and/or predetermined criteria.
• Provide patient education.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include:

• Work requires completion of accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Active state nursing license required.
• Prefer at least 1 year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in a hospital or related medical facility.
• Must pass all required Maxim screening tests with an 80% or greater.
• Clear criminal background screening.
• Current BLS card.
• ACLS/PALS per contract requirement.
• Current TB result! s or chest x-ray.
• Current physical exam per state regulations or contract requirements.
