Under the direction of the Pediatrics Clinic Director at the University of Nevada School of Medicine ( UNSOM ) in Southern Nevada and as a me! mber of a multidisciplinary team, the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner works in a clinic environment with various departments and organizations.
The Nurse Practitioner will work with Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Family Medicine Departments as well as the UMC Wellness and Womenâs Centers as needed to assist in all aspects of patient care and to ensure quality patient care. The Nurse Practitioner will also link patients with appropriate community based support services and outreach to recruit and retain women, infants, children, and youth with HIV as well as assist in all aspects of programs management.
Knowledge:
Nursing, especially pediatric and/or adolescent medicine
Human subjects research protocols
Skills assessment obtained through completion of a recognized Nurse Practitioner eduation program
State and federal requlations regarding basic diagnoses, prescriptive authority and Medicare and Medicaid requir! ements.
Skills:
Counseling skills with an ! ability to communicate effectively to parents, children, and adolescents especially in the area of children with Pediatric HIV /Aids conditions.
Organizational skills to manage patient care data and follow-up effectively with patients to maintain a high quality of care.
Excellent written and verbal communicative skills in dealing with children, adolescents, parents and the multiple disciplines involved
Interpersonal and human relations skills.
Ability to:
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Work independently with little direct supervision and as a collaborative team member.
Maintain professional business and work ethics and standards to initiative and exercise sound judgment.

Required Qualifications
Bachelorâs Degree in nursing and four years experience working in Pediatrics or a Masterâs Degree in nursing and two years of experience working in Pediatrics.
Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in State of Nevada prior to employment commencing.
Must be able to be credentialed at designated clinics and/or hospitals.
