Description: University of Nevada, Reno is at present looking to employ Assistant/Associate/Full Professor,* Las Vegas 3 (SOM-Family Medicine) right now, this position will be placed in Nevada. The faculty member will contribute to the school and the department through clinical produ! ctivity, community service, education of medical students and resident, and research projects with residents to advance scholarly activity and increase grant funding. Focus on area(s) of interest such as OB, geriatrics, student health, sports medicine, etc.
Knowledge of:
- Current practice of Family Medicine
- ACGME, JCAH , NRMP , OSHA , University, etc., regulations.
- Maintenance of certification by theAmerican Board of Family Mediicne, ( ABFM ).
- Departmental and residency policies and procedures.
- Current practice of Family Medicine â" outpatient and inpatient.
- Low-risk Obstetrical care â" prenatal, intrapartum, delivery, postpartum.
- Current practice of common outpatient and inpatient Family Medicine procedures.
- Teaching students at the undergraduate and graduate level.
- Leadership skills
- Curricular development
- Communication an! d public speaking
Candidate must be MD or DO; successful completion of an accredited residency program ( ACGME ) in Family Medicine. Must be AB! MS / ABFM board certified or if board eligible sit for the boards prior to employment start date. If candidate is eligible to sit for boards, candidate must have the ability to obtain certification within two years of completing their residency. Candidates must be eligible for an unrestricted Nevada medical and pharmacy license, DEA license, malpractice insurance and must be able to be successfully credentialed by Southern Nevada teaching hospitals and/or clinics
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with student health, obstetrics, geriatric fellowship, or sports medicine fellowship is preferred. Leadership and teaching experience as exemplified by awards, board positions, chief resident experience or other equivalent. Local, regional and national presentation experience.
