Responsibilities include:
- Perform a variety of complex specialized tasks utilizing ultrasonic high frequency sound waves to detect abnormalities including masses, abscesses, and stones. Assist physicians with biopsy procedures, guiding biopsy instrument using sonographic techniques.
- Utilize accessory equipment such as transducers, multi-format cameras, printers, and PACS workstations.
- Prepare patients! for procedures, explain procedures to patients. Report change! s in patient condition to medical staff. Provide an oral and written summary of preliminary findings to the radiologist. Evaluate quality of sonograms. Determine if additional sonograms or ultrasound procedures are indicated.
- Maintain patient records in division.
- Charge procedures and supplies in RIS. Archive and de-archive ultrasound data. Orient new
- Ultra-sonographers; provide education and training to new sonographers. Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.
- Perform a variety of complex specialized tasks utilizing ultrasonic high frequency sound waves to detect abnormalities including masses, abscesses, and stones.
- Assist physicians with biopsy procedures, guiding biopsy instrument using sonographic techniques. Perform ultrasound procedures, doppler vascular examinations, abdominal studies and color-flow ultrasound, OB-GYN procedures as required.
- Utilize accessory equipment such as selective trans! ducers, multi-format cameras, printers, and PACS workstations.
- Prepare patients for procedures, explain procedures to patients. Report changes in patient condition to medical staff. Provide an oral and written summary of preliminary findings to the radiologist.
- Evaluate quality of sonograms. Determine if additional sonograms or ultrasound procedures are indicated.
- Maintain patient records in division.
- Collaborate in quality control of equipment and filming and obtains service as required.
- Proficient in the performance of ultrasound procedures.
- Provide direction and instruction to existing personnel and training to new sonographers.
- Act in a team leader or leadership capacity on an as needed basis.
- Ensure correct charging of ultrasound procedures and supplies on a daily basis.
- Other duties as assigned
- A certification from an accredited ultra! sound/sonography school related field preferred.
- Prefer at lea! st one year of experience as an ultrasound technician/sonographer preferred.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Current BLS card.
- Current TB test or chest x-ray.
- Current physical exam per state or contract requirements.
- Successfully pass all maxim screening exams with a score of 80% or greater.
