About This Position

This unit cares for primarily patient who had undergone total Hip, Knee and Shoulder Joint Replacement, besides which medical-surgical, OBGYN patients are admitted in the unit. Joint replacement center has recently been certified by the Joint commission which is noted to be the first in Nevada and all of the Dignity Health ho! spitals. The Joint Replacement program consists of a dedicated! team members including Surgeons, Physician assistants, Joint replacement coordinator, nursing team comprising of Nursing manager, Joint Replacement program coordinator, charge RN’s, RN’s and CNA’s, unit secretaries (Currently there are 25 RN’s who are certified Orthopedic Nurses) dedicated physical and occupational therapists, pharmacists. Here in this unit it is all about patient safety, patient satisfaction, team work, collaboration. For those work here it is a home away from home.

St. Rose Dominican Hospitals invites recent nursing graduates to join our Newly Licensed RN Residency Program. This 12-week New Grad Program is designed to help Graduate Nurses transition from students to professional nurses while enhancing clinical competence. Participants in this program develop clinical proficiency through evidence-based practices and supervised clinical experience, with an emphasis on clinical application within the hospital setting. The program is designe! d around the goal of providing a nurturing, enriching environment where the new RNs can safely, effectively care for patients independently.

St. Rose Dominican Hospitals New Graduate Requirements:
Hired candidates will be part of a 12-week RN Residency Program consisting of classroom and preceptor hours. Candidates must be able to work full time consistently throughout the 12-week program. Candidates are required to sign a two-year Promissory Note. The receipt of benefits is contingent upon the employee’s continued active employment as full time (or benefitted part time if applicable) in good standing in the department that paid for the course, and compliance with the terms of the policy.

Job Description

New Graduate Registered Nurses will provide patient care under the direction of a preceptor. Upon successful completion of New Graduate Registered Nurse orientation, the New Graduate Registered Nurse will practice under the job descri! ption for the clinical area in which they successfully completed orient! ation.

The registered nurse employs critical thinking to integrate objective data with knowledge gained from an assessment of the subjective experiences of patients. Registered nurses use this critical thinking process to apply the best available evidence and research data to the processes of diagnosis and treatment. Nurses continually evaluate quality and effectiveness of nursing practices and seek to optimize outcomes. Medical/clinical knowledge, technical and clinical skills, clinical judgment, interpersonal skills and communication, as indicated in the current Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Hospitals, are essential components of the nursing practice.

Union Representation: This position is represented by CNA/NNOC and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Minimum â€" Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
Preferred â€" Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Licensure

Required: RN = Registered Nurse license from the State of NV Nursing Board.

CT CPRBLS = Basic Life Support CPR.

A. You must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing after February 1, 2013. Accreditation should be from NLNAC or CCNE.

B. You must not have worked under your RN license since graduation (Flu Clinics do not count).

C. You must have successfully passed the NCLEX exam between the date! s of February 1, 2013 and January 1, 2014.

D. You must have do! wnloaded transcripts verifying you have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or above (unofficial transcripts are accepted at this time)

E. You must have downloaded your most current resume.

F. You must complete a written essay, no more than two double-spaced pages (not including title page) in APA format:

1. On the title page, clearly state your graduation date, the date that you successfully completed the NCLEX, your cumulative GPA and your unit(s) and campus of interest.

2. Discuss why you have chosen to pursue a career in nursing and which departments you would like to work in. You may apply up to 2 positions currently posted. Please be specific as to which department and which campus you would like to be considered.

***Due to document availability within the applicant system, please only submit one essay regardless of the number of departments you are interested in and/or applications you submit.

All positions are varied shifts! until the 12 week program has been completed successfully. Once the program is complete, you will be instructed to apply to an available position depending on department needs and unit seniority per the collective bargaining agreement.

  • January 7, 2014: Last day to apply and submit all required documents online.
  • January 8 to February 14, 2014: Managers will review applicants. Selected applicants will be contacted directly to successfully pass the Math and Behavior Assessments. Selected applicants will then be contacted directly to schedule an interview.
  • March 17, 2014: St. Rose Dominican Hospitals orientation begins.
