DIO Officer [United States]


 Under the guidance and supervision of the Manager of Diversity and Outreach Initiatives, the Diversity, Inclusion, and Outreach Officer (DIO Officer) will assist the DIA (Diversity, Inclusion and Admissions) Assistant Dean and Manager in the implementation of efforts, activities, and initiatives related to outreach, recruitment, diversity activities, and sponsored projects. Examples of these efforts include the Competitive Edge Bridge-to-the-Doctorate Program, the UC-Historically Black Colleges and Universities (UC-HBCU) Initiative, UC-Hispanic-Serving Institutions (UC-HSI) Doctoral Diversity Initiative, California State University (CSU) Sally Casanova Pre-Doctoral Scholars Summer Program, the UC Growing Our Own initiative, and other diversity-related programming and offerings and pathway program events. The DIO Officer also provides administrative support and student services to support graduate diversity, engages with professional staff in 100+ departments, schools, and interdepartmental degree programs, with approximately 130 graduate programs. Major duties include providing information and assistance to applicants, students, departmental staff, and . The DIO Officer will support departments in their recruitment and yielding activities. The position will also assist in the planning, design, and implementation of marketing email campaigns and portal content using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM system) to support DIA efforts. The DIO Officer will market and promote UCLA graduate programs and will participate in DIA events and activities (nationwide recruitment events, fairs, diversity conferences) while providing quality customer service to all constituencies we serve, including but not limited to prospective students, applicants, departmental staff, faculty, and other stakeholders (internal and external to UCLA).

1. Ability to learn, apply and disseminate a wide range of policy rules, regulations and procedures, including academic and student affairs policy and procedure promulgated by the Academic Senate/Graduate Council (e.g., Academic Senate Manual, Standards and Procedures for Graduate Study at UCLA), UCOP and the Division of Graduate Education.
