THE ROLE

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller position offers the opportunity to work in a high paced, growth-oriented company. The Controller is an active, hands-on team member who will truly be a business partner to the CFO as the company continues to expand its scope and revenues. The ideal candidate for the Controller position will have high-level experience with an established software or SaaS business as an Assistant Controller or Controller. In addition, the ideal candidate will have progressive experience in leadership roles in accounting, designing and implementing internal controls, accounting for acquisitions, and advanced working knowledge of the NetSuite accounting system. The Controller is a highly visible role that requires the ability to operate both strategically with thoughtful and robust functional planning while also being able to drive robust tactical execution that delivers timely, high-quality results.

YOU WILL

  • Oversee the accounting operations including billing, accounts payable, renewals, general ledger, and financial reporting.

  • Manage a team of eight.

  • Act as the company’s GAAP expert, ensuring compliance with all financial reporting regulations.

  • Lead the integration efforts of acquired companies.

  • Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective internal controls

  • Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting

  • "Super-user" of NetSuite ERP system including being the NetSuite Administrator; oversee current transformational projects to significantly upgrade financial processes and controls.

  • Fosters a positive and proactive work environment, emphasizing respect for individuals, high standards of quality, customer service, innovation and team work.

  • Strong results orientation within department by motivating staff and holding them accountable to meeting customer needs and organizational goals.

  • Understands interrelationships across functional areas to redesign processes, improve efficiency, and ensure optimal results as needed.

  • Identifies and communicates opportunities to improve internal controls, policies and procedures, operations, and provide superior financial and operational reporting.

  • Oversee external audits and ensure records are maintained and organized.

  • Manage timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations

  • Facilitate monthly close process for all companies

  • Responsible for compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes

  • Works with various computer programs such as NetSuite, Microsoft Office, and Salesforce.com.


YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited institute of higher education

  • CPA required.

  • Minimum 8 years of related accounting experience

  • Experience in an accounting leadership role in a fast-growing $50 million+ business

  • Experience in a software company with subscription-based business

  • Experience in accounting for acquisitions

  • Experience handling high volume transactions and multiple product lines.

  • Deep knowledge of GAAP

  • Effective presentation skills with investors, owners, C-level executives, and customers

  • Able to manage through influence and collaboration.

  • Demonstrated effectiveness in staff development, team building, and conflict resolution.

  • Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to work with a high degree of autonomy.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft office (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Strong Excel skills.

Compensation Information

Pursuant to state and local law disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience and location is $160,000 to $175,000 per year. This position may be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. The incentive award amount is dependent upon company performance and your personal performance and is not guaranteed.
